CMS changes rules regarding enrollment verification
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently announced changes to requirements regarding outbound enrollment verification processes that had previously applied only to private fee-for-service (PFFS) plans.
All plan sponsors are now required to make at least three documented attempts to contact the applicant by telephone within 15 calendar days of receiving the enrollment request.
CMS has developed model script language for use by all plan sponsors. We will begin making these calls immediately during normal business hours.
CMS has also provided a model CMS verification letter for those applicants who may not be reached by phone.
Thank you for your continued partnership in helping to provide coverage for the Medicare beneficiaries in our communities.
