05/02/2008  New alternative care network available in Oregon and Clark County

As of Jan. 1, 2008, there is an alternative care provider network in place in Oregon and Clark County, Washington, for acupuncture, chiropractic care, naturopathic services and licensed massage therapy.

Prior to Jan. 1, 2008, there was no alternative care provider network in these areas, so all of these providers were paid at the preferred provider level. Now that there is a network, providers and their payment levels will fall into one of two categories: participating and non-participating.

Starting July 1, 2008, members will receive their plan's higher benefit level for covered services when they see participating providers. Alternative care providers in these areas who are not on our network will be considered non-participating; those claims will be paid at the non-participating provider benefit level.

All claims for covered services received between Jan. 1 and July 1 will be paid at the preferred provider level regardless of the provider's network status.

The network currently consists of the following:

  • Acupuncturists = 300
  • Chiropractic practitioners = 600
  • Naturopathic practitioners = 100
Massage therapists are being added daily.

Updated network information is available on our Web site and on myAsuris.com. We are sending letters to members who have recently seen an alternative care provider in Oregon or Clark County, Wash. to let them know about the new network and how it will impact provider reimbursement.
