Key Points:

The ATP-III recommends screening and treatment of lipid disorders.  Adults should receive the recommended cholesterol screenings at the age and frequency as recommended by the ATP-III.

Asuris Resources:

Washington PEBB members with increased cholesterol are eligible for participation in the cardiac disease management program.  All other Asuris members please check your benefits to determine eligibility for the disease management programs.

Guideline Adoption and Recommended Use:

This guideline has been adopted based on nationally recognized sources.  This guideline is based on the most recent medical evidence or a consensus on clinical treatment patterns by physicians in the selected field of practice.  Asuris adopts guidelines to help practitioners and members make decisions about appropriate health care for specific medical conditions.  Guidelines are not a substitute for the advice of a physician.
