Asuris' comprehensive approach to cancer care

August 1, 2023

According to a survey of large employers, cancer became the top health care cost driver in 2022,¹ and spending on cancer medicines alone is projected to grow 14% annually through 2027.² Meanwhile, the number of new cases for all cancers keeps climbing.³

Additionally, these numbers don’t account for the indirect costs of lost productivity and patient economic burden, which greatly increase the true costs of the disease.

Studies show that failing to meet the complex care needs of cancer patients results in poorer outcomes and higher costs.

That’s why we offer a comprehensive approach to cancer care that provides members with the support they need throughout the cancer care journey. We support employees, families, caregivers and you with a robust suite of cancer care programs, including:

  • Enhanced care management and navigation guidance
  • Virtual care for medical and behavioral health needs, including 24/7 nurse triage and second opinion services
  • Medication support that guides members to alternative sites of care for infusion drugs and, for employer groups with integrated PBM, proactive access to coupon-eligible medications and broad pharmacy support
  • Wellness programs that reward members for engaging in cancer screenings and other well-being activities
  • Stop-loss protection for self-funded groups

And while these programs help and support your employees throughout their cancer journey, many can also support their chronic conditions and other care needs.

Get an early start on Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Each year October is designated as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a time dedicated to educating about breast cancer and the importance of early detection, and promoting access to care. You can help your employees by reminding them to access age- and risk-appropriate in-network preventive screenings for breast and other cancers covered at no out-of-pocket costs under their health plan. Be sure to share our preventive care lists with employees, and encourage them to read the preventive care flyers, available in both English and Spanish.
