We believe our members deserve access to high-quality, cost-effective prescription medications. That's why we regularly update our list of covered drugs (formulary) based on new drugs coming to market, current scientific findings, and strategies to reduce overall costs.
On Jan. 1, 2019, several changes will take place, including cost share and tier changes, as well as exclusions of certain drugs and drug classes, such as medical foods and over-the-counter drugs. Changes that will lower cost and improve access for members include moving more than 300 drugs to lower-cost tiers.
In November we will send letters, with detailed information about next steps, to members who must act based on the updated covered-drug list.
In addition to updating our lists of covered drugs, we have simplified the lists' names for 2019, as shown below:
