We recently announced that we're making some plan changes for individuals and families in Washington. Here are the details.

In 2018, Asuris will offer 2018 individual health plans in Adams, Asotin, Benton, Chelan, Douglas, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Kittitas, Okanogan and Whitman counties.

What does this mean for me?

Depending on where you live, you may need to choose a new health insurance plan or company for 2018 when open enrollment begins on Nov. 1, 2017.

When does this take effect?

You may keep using your current health insurance through Dec. 31, 2017 as long as you continue to pay your premiums. But you will need to buy new health insurance for 2018, because you will no longer be covered by your current Asuris plan as of Jan. 1, 2018.

Why are you making these changes?

We did not make this decision lightly. The insurance market continues to be unsettled nationwide, and Washington is no exception. Though we are taking this action now, we will continue to advocate for stability in the markets in hopes of better serving Washington long-term.

Can I change my health insurance plan now?

No. You must wait until open enrollment begins on Nov. 1, 2017, to change your plan. You can use your current health plan through Dec. 31, 2017, as long as you continue to pay your premium.

My premium is paid automatically through my bank account. What happens to that?

Your premium will continue to be paid as usual through December, 2017. As of Dec. 31, 2017, your current plan will end and that will cancel the electronic funds transfer from your bank.

What do I need to do now? What is my next step?

There is nothing you need to do now. Your coverage remains in effect through Dec. 31, 2017. You will need to make decisions about your health insurance when open enrollment begins on Nov. 1, 2017.
