End of Q1: Time for a preventive care checkup

March 26, 2024

The end of the first quarter marks the beginning of spring and is a good reminder to think about your employees’ preventive care. If your plan year started on January 1, many of your employees have begun to use their 2024 benefits and access the care their plan covers. But are they taking advantage of their zero-cost in-network preventive care services? Here are some tools to help you remind them.

The importance of preventive care

Even when you’re healthy and feeling good, periodic exams, cancer screenings, vaccines and other recommended services can help prevent or detect problems early, when they’re easier and less costly to treat. We follow recommendations from three government agencies to determine which services we cover. When your employees see an in-network provider, they pay nothing for covered preventive services.

Employees can visit our Understanding your preventive care benefits web page to learn more. You can also share our preventive care brochure, available in English or Spanish, with them.

Inspire your employees with a health assessment

You can help your employees think more about preventive care by encouraging them to take the Asuris Motivate™ Health Assessment. When employees sign in to their account on asuris.com, they’ll find the Health Assessment in Resources under Covered services.

Asuris Motivate provides personalized tools and resources designed to guide each employee to improved health. Small groups on metallic plans earn a medical premium reduction of 3% for each enrolled employee who completes a Health Assessment and biometric screening. Plus, enrolled employees can earn generous wellness rewards. Here you’ll find small group, large (51+) fully insured and ASO group wellness resources for yourself and your employees.

Urge employees to see a primary care provider

A primary care provider (PCP) is your employees’ go-to provider for annual well-being exams. PCPs understand employees’ medical needs and can help them navigate preventive services and access specialty care when needed. Employees should sign in to their account on asuris.com or the Asuris app and click Find a provider under Find care to search for a PCP.

Once employees schedule a PCP visit, they can make the most of it by remembering to ask their doctor these important questions:

  • Which preventive services, screenings and vaccinations do you recommend for me?
  • How much and what kinds of physical activity do I need to stay healthy?
  • What things can I do to improve my mental health and avoid cognitive decline?
  • Should I make any changes to my current prescriptions, and is there anything I can do to save money on prescriptions?

We’re here for your employees

Employees needing help finding a PCP or scheduling a screening, vaccination or other preventive care appointment can call Customer Service at the number on the back of their member ID card. If you have any questions, please contact your account representative.
